Through Croydon, Brixton and Streatham
If Bill had two bob, he’d bet ’em
In West Norwood and Penge
All the way to Stonehenge
Horses, he couldn’t forget ’em.

Moving west, Bill continued his gambles
Without let or pause, or preambles
When he got to Land’s End
With nothing to spend
His ramble turned into a shambles.

“I’ve spent all my money!” Bill grumbled
“And with every bet lost, I’ve been tumbled.
I should have gone East,
Got to Ipswich at least,
And I swear I’d have not been so humbled!”
