(Latin: Memento homo, quia pulvis es, et in pulverem reverteris.) \u2014 Genesis 3:19<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I feel strangely inspired by lent this year &#8211; it must be the pancakes I ate yesterday in Frank&#8217;s, Neal Street, Covent Garden. Three perfect, thin folded skins of egg and flour and milk, with a quarter of lemon and white crystalline sugar, a true and rare moment of nostalgia for the family home.<\/p>\n<p>So, what sacrifice to make, what luxury to give up? I thought, in my so clever way, &#8220;Give up giving up.&#8221; I liked the sound of it, it reminded me of &#8220;keep on keepin on&#8221;. Then on reflection, I realised that it wouldn&#8217;t be a bad idea to work for a little over a month on being more determined.
