Look at this:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/funk.co.uk\/blogpix\/google-typo-2.jpg\" width=400 \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/funk.co.uk\/blogpix\/google-typo.jpg\" width=400 \/><\/p>\n<p>However big and bad Bill Gates&#8217; Evil Empire may be, nobody <i>Microsofts<\/i> a PC &#8211; they just switch it on and use it. But people do use the term &#8220;google&#8221; to mean &#8220;use an internet search engine&#8221; or even just to mean &#8220;look something up in a directory&#8221;. They are already using the verb &#8220;to google&#8221; as a replacement for the verb &#8220;search&#8221; in some places, such as schools, where children constantly invent new language forms to describe the modern world. <\/p>\n<p>As Google begins the wholesale assimilation of printed literature, our language (and therefore our reality) is being shaped by this phenomenon and I wonder how healthy is it that it is happening with all of us apparently sleep-walking, ebay-addled, Amazon-soaked, and Bloggered into extinction &#8211; just like the cockabindi..<\/p>\n<p><font SIZE=1>Update: <a HREF=\"http:\/\/advanet.blogspot.com\/2005\/10\/search-engine-rankings.html\" target=_blank>&#8220;Google 37.3% of searches&#8221;<\/a><\/font><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Google is taking over from poor shrinkwrapped Microsoft as our new pet fear.
