{"id":2906,"date":"2011-07-17T16:53:17","date_gmt":"2011-07-17T16:53:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theothersideofeverything.com\/flip\/?p=2906"},"modified":"2011-07-17T18:16:08","modified_gmt":"2011-07-17T18:16:08","slug":"poptastic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theothersideofeverything.com\/flip\/2011\/07\/poptastic\/","title":{"rendered":"Poptastic!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/meffm.com\/things\/survivalCD.jpg\" alt=\"Survival Game\" align=left \/>I wrote this tune, Survival Game, with Mike Turtle, one of my favourite musical collaborators, who was the brains behind <a href=\"http:\/\/www.judgegaffney.com\/wearedust\/wearedust.html\">We Are Dust<\/a> and is part of <a href=\"http:\/\/sacredcow.ch\/\">Sacred Cow<\/a> &#8211; he&#8217;s the one wearing red.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/release\/1126019\">The song<\/a> was remixed half a dozen times until it started rising up the charts. I became briefly mildly famous in Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Chile (!) and played a few gigs to sell the song. We made no money from this despite it selling platinum and going briefly top ten &#8211; it was written as a fundraiser for charity &#8220;It&#8217;s 5 to 12&#8221; to benefit impoverished and undernourished East Africa, and I&#8217;m pleased to say we did raise quite a bit of money for the cause. <\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the original version:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"349\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aO3Fu2OqPmk\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This mentalist dance remix someone sent me from Russia.
