These images are taken from shots of my brother’s wedding. Using the ever-useful VLC I was scrolling through video captured as AVCHD format .MTS files when I noticed that the effort to produce viewable frames was quite beautiful, so I started to screen grab.

It reminds me of an exhibition in 1999, where I used desktop printers to produce “messed up” images of an earthquake as they ran out of ink. I was similarly producing images by exploiting technical limitation, tricking the cheap printer into continuing with the old cartridge, until the prints became ghostly residue, blurring and scarring.
