(for Benedict)

We were once friends online, we’re now unfriends;
Mere presence has replaced sweet gifts of text.
Unfollowed, no unguarded update bends
Our retweets. So WTF? – Perplexed,
We shared too much in our desire to share
Our streams, and thus our minds filled without sense;
As lungs fill up with water, souls are bared
As tittle-tattle Twitter unrelents.
Beneath the fountain of that new homepage
Like adolescents quick and bold, we rushed
But shiny interwebs are yet a cage
And fragile bones by such a torrent crushed.

So dark this age, the micro-blogging boom
So small a plot, in which few flowers bloom.

Oxford Dictionary declaring “unfriend” the word of 2009.
i’d like to see it used in a sonnet or something.
